It’s Christmas Eve (12/24/14) & tomorrow is Christmas Day…..December 25th also marks the passing of the Godfather Of Soul, Mr. James Brown. To celebrate the Holidays & to pay tribute to our favorite Funky Man, we decided to post up (2) James Brown mixes that were done in the past, one by the Funky President himself, J.Rocc, & his Dynamic Duo partner, Rhettmatic. The first one is J’s “James Brown & Friends” Pt. 2 Mix & the second one is a live James Brown Tribute mix by Rhettmatic when he was on KPFK‘s “Soundwaves Radio”.  Enjoy the funky tunes….Merry Christmas from The Beat Junkies.

In honor of The Renegades Of Rhythm Tour with Dj Shadow, Cut Chemist drops this incredible exclusive mix called “Mix By Jimmy?”. The Renegades Of Rhythm Los Angeles Show is this Friday, October 3rd at the Hollywood Palladium.

“Parallel to the current Renegades of Rhythm Tour with Cut Chemist and DJ Shadow paying tribute to Afrika Bambaataa and his legendary record collection, Cut Chemist drops the timely “Mix By Jimmy”.

Take a peak into the exclusive material from hip hop pioneer DJ Afrika Bambaataa. “Mix By Jimmy” features recordings Bambaataa had pressed to acetate for spinning live at shows in the late 70’s and early 80’s. This mix includes entirely unreleased material along with demo versions of hits like “Looking For The Perfect Beat,” “Renegades of Funk” and “Planet Rock. “

Listen and take a trip through the deepest part of the most important music collection of our time.”

The Source Magazine did a spotlight on the Beat Junkies’ Digital Record Pool. To help celebrate this service that they’ve set up, D-Styles created a 25 minute mix Jazz, Hip-Hop, Funk, and Dance music. They also interviewed Rhettmatic about the Record Pool.
